Hiking along The Great Wall Mutianyu

January 27th, 2016

Mutianyu Great Wall, Beijing, P.R. China

This is a flashback to last year winter, in early January 2016, when we hiked along the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Not only was the weather amazing, on this crispy cold winter day we were nearly alone and got the chance to go off road and trek along an unrestored part of the Wall. If it is still accessible, enter the area through the tourist entrance, and then go right until the end. At the time we went there, it was possible to climb through an opening at the top of the last flight of stairs and go some 200m further to this outpost. The unobscured view over the surrounding mountains was definitly worth the few extra steps.
